We were appointed by a young professional Chinese couple who asked us to create their dream home in London. We extensively renovated this 4-storey stucco Chelsea home, which had been stripped of many original features. Gunter & Co took on the role of project manager and principal interior designer for this project and obtained planning permission for a lower ground floor extension. Once we added the contemporary extension with walk on glass roof, a new kitchen was fitted to complete the transformation of the lower ground floor. We replaced all fitted furniture and finishes throughout, changed the lighting design and in all principle rooms added panelling and historically appropriate coving and ceiling mouldings. Two smaller bedrooms were transformed in luxurious his and hers dressing rooms.
The client brief was to create a luxurious and warm interior with ample entertaining options in formal reception rooms as well as relaxed family spaces. We worked with a palette of rich marbles from Italy and Brazil, forming the base of the classic contemporary design. Together with a beautiful collection of artwork and a curated mix of contemporary Italian and bespoke designed furniture pieces, this home has been elevated to a truly sophisticated classical townhouse.
